My 20th ~ Reflections

Wow...20. Somehow I just never thought I would ever get to twenty...I really feel like I have been a "teenager" forever. Is that weird to say or did y'all think that too when you got done with the teenage years? I know some of you are reading this and think: "HA! Just wait till your my age!" Don't worry I ain't trying to rush growing up. I use to, as much as I could but I have been taking my life day-by-day and soaking in every minute of my life. I really love my life. So very much has happened this year for me, LOTS of changes.

~My 19th (b-day) marked the first birthday in two years I was out of a sinking relationship, and VERY happy to be that way!
~Newly graduated
~October I met Josh
~November Josh and I got engaged
~December Josh and I got MARRIED!, first Christmas, first time seeing snow!
~Jan- First New Year's kiss and married
~Feb-First Valentine's Day married <3
~Mar- First time celebrating my husband's b-day, 25!
~Apr-First Easter, April Fool's Day married!
~June- First birthday married!

It has been quite a busy year, the above might or might not look busy but I barely got to slow down for a breath! Only just is our life falling into a daily routine. I am so thankful for this life God has blessed me with. This doesn't even include the move out of my family's home- WOW I never knew what a DRASTIC (though good) change that would be!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

My beloved Josh made me a beautiful dinner, and got me three very special presents. He even took a early shift-slide at work so we could be home earlier so he would be able to make me that dinner. *swoons*. These few short sentences isn't enough to say how special he made my evening. Thank you my love for such a wonderful evening- I love you babe!!

Photo Challenge | Let’s Hear It For The Boys!

For this week's IHEARTFACES challange I choose to enter this goofy one! It was taken recently at a campout. This is my Husband, Dad, and my youngest brother- Ash. He was totally clueless as to what was going on behind him and if you know my brother even for a minute you'll know he is just as crazy 24/7 as these two are acting behind him! ^_^ So I thought it was ironic to catch him NOT being goofy! *laughs* He was just totally in the moment.

Ladies txt your husband during the day to add some spice! Really try it, and cause him to want to be running home to you as fast as he can! Or gents try it with your wives - remember most women are "crockpots" and need a whole day to (ah-hem) warm up! :) Blessings to you all! ~Megan

New puppy! Sweet....?

This is the newest member of our family, called sweet....? The last people taking care of him called him "sweetlips". I'm sorry me and Josh think that is really corny, so we don't call him that. But he is already stuck with the "sweet" part, so does anybody have any ideas to what we could call him on the last part?

He is SUCH a darling dog, only trouble is he is a chewer so he keeps us on our heels to keep him from doing that. He is only 7 months old and submissive so hopefully we'll break him from the habit :).

Going "No Poo"

I don't know about you but the title is just plain creepy/nasty sounding, but bear with me anyway. :) You may thank me later.

I found out about the idea of not using shampoo recently, and the idea of using a solution of baking powder and apple cider vinegar (or organic white vinegar). Since then I have been doing my own research on the matter and looking for the recipe that would work for me. My dear husband actually found the recipe I have decided to go with and with my apple cider vinegar and baking in hand I am ready to take the first leap!

Here is below the recipe I've decided on using:

Step 1:

Put 1-2 tbsp of baking soda into a 16oz cup (or close). The ideal ratio is about 1 tbsp of baking soda per 1 cup of water. When you get in the shower, fill the rest of the cup with water and stir until the baking soda is dissolved. You should have some cloudy water at this point. If the mixture feels gritty or pasty, either add more water or use less baking soda. Now apply the mixture to your hair. Ideally, you should aim to get most of it around your roots and work it in with your fingers, gradually distributing it throughout the rest of your hair. It won't lather like shampoo, but it does give your hair a distinct "smooth" feeling when it's properly distributed. Once you've rubbed it around a bit, you should be ready to rinse. When you are completely rinsed you are ready to condition (step 2).

Step 2:

The simplest way to condition is to use apple cider vinegar, in about the same way as you used baking soda: 1 tbsp of the vinegar per 1 cup of water. If you like you can add a few drops of your favorite essential oil, some honey, or some lemon juice. When you've mixed up your conditioner, pour it on and work it in just like you did the baking soda. When you're satisfied, rinse thoroughly.
(a note from Megan: Otherwise you might still smell slightly like the apple vinegar and it might mean you didn't rinse well enough!)

"No Poo" Troubleshooting

What I am doing:

I will be posting pictures and updating as I go on with my own process of this method. So far I am on day 17 of not using shampoo and only scrubbing my scalp when in the shower. Today I start using my "No Poo", and I am SO excited!

Why did I decided to do this?:

1. Ever since I got married (almost 4 months) I started washing my hair every other day, now I my hair is VERY dry, flaky, and frizzy. Something that never happened before when I only used to wash my hair once a week. So a word of advice I would share is that if this is too "far out" for you to try, just limit your washings of hair to once a week at most and just see what happens!

2. I had no idea how many harmful chemicals can be in shampoos! I became unsettled, thinking "I've used shampoo my whole life, you are saying I was using that and I could have been doing something more "organic"?"

3. This is a MUCH cheaper way to wash your hair, even if you are only spending 86-99 cents for the cheap shampoo (that I was using). Yes I could spend a small fortune and avoid doing weird stuff like this method, but I don't wanna spend that kinda money that I don't have! If you can and would rather do that, my well wishes to ya! :)

4. Your hair naturally oils your hair perfectly, the chemicals in shampoo work AGAINST that, so in this transition the hardest part is dealing with the excessive oils that come out because your body has had to work extra hard against the shampoo to keep up. Once you stop using shampoo your hair may look really oily for a few weeks, just wear a cap or scarf to hid your hair. You hair WILL over time regulate I personally have noticed my hair is smoother not really so much oily, so I haven't had much of a problem. Make sure also that you have a brush that can spread the natural oils to the ends of your hairs, not a spiky-like brush. (click on the links for examples)

Hope you decided to embark on this journey with me, if you do please come back and share your progress/results here or on our facebook page!!

That's all for now!

Day 6 ~ Somebody you would love to trade places with for a day.

Photo, etc. is copyright of Resolved2Worship or Alyssa Ann W.

She is the only person I would really love to trade places with, she is a masterful (I think) photographer. Mother of seven, that has her own homebased photography business. :). I really hope to meet her someday, she is really an amazing person.

~Day 2~

Mom and I have been quite close my whole life, with it's rocky moments just like any other friendship. When I went through some of the worst moments of my life, she was there to help me. Most always though times have been good. Since I was the only child for nine years, because of my age difference between me and the other littles I was able to have a close one-on-one relationship with my Mom. Something I am so thankful to have. Love you Mom!

Day 01 - A picture of yourself with ten facts

~Day 1~

1. I really dislike having pictures taken of me alone, because....

2. You knew this was following because of #1, I HATE being the center of attention, and pretty do everything humanly possible to not be noticed most wherever I am.

3. I am always straitforward honest. I don't care what they think- I can't help what they think about the truth, it only matters what God thinks about me.

4. I love using movie lines to talk in normal life.

5. I love rainstorms with thunder, only though if I am at home able to enjoy it.

6. I do not like driving very much, it stresses me out (If I don't know the way by heart)

7. I really can't stand these humid summers, I love cold winters <3

8. I am not a controversial person, but I defend my solid core beliefs.

9. I love doing photography, I love that feeling of catching a moment in life that will never come again. :)

10. I go "organic" or healthy in any way I can find and adapt without going "over the top", like now I am going to make my own homemade shampoo :D

Joshua's 25th birthday!

This past Friday was my dearest's 25th birthday. On the day we just celebrated with just me and him, it was so nice. I made him a birthday cake (yellow cake with chocolate pudding frosting), and we both cooked his favorite meal; BBQ chicken, green beans, homemade bread, & homemade mashed potatoes. YUMMY! We watched a movie before bed, and it was pretty much a quiet evening. I love those kinds of evenings, espically Fridays because we can justify staying up late.

----

Yesterday were able to have my family over (it was touch and go wither they were going to come because their van has had the brakes out and the guys have been working on it this week), and my grandparents. We made BBQ and Teriakai Chicken (on the stove), salad, homemade bread, and green beans. It was so good. Then we decorated the cake and sang "Happy Birthday" to Joshua.

Afterwards we cleaned up a bit, and my grandparents had to leave. Then we put on a movie for the children, and we played 42 where the guys (go read up on the game in the link) promptly stomped us girls (me and Mom) into the ground. :D It was such a great evening!

Love you babe!

Photo Challenge ~ Sun Flare

This is one of my favorite pictures of us because it was very close after we were married and we are wearing our matching "Ohio State" hoodies (heehee don't hate ;). Josh surprised me, and took me on a mini vacation to Rockport, Tx. Rockport, Tx is a very important spot to us as a couple because it was the place where Josh first saw a picture of me and knew I was going to be his wife.

First Week at my New Job

So as this first week comes to an end, I just wanted to post about it a little bit. So Monday morning the alarm goes off at 6:15 AM, I didn't know that this time came twice a day lol. Megan and I are both night owls, but with this new 8-430 schedule I've had to learn to wake up earlier. So Monday was the first day of NEO or New Employee Orientation. This is where you learn everything about the company. You do NEO for 4 days. During NEO you get to meet a lot of your new co-workers, and get to talk to them about their life and things, it's really cool meeting all these new people. So after NEO, you go start your training, there are so many training courses that you have to complete, but it is going to be well worth it when I am done. After only the 1st week, I know it is going to be alot of work in training, but getting to work for the #1 company in San Antonio, the #2 company in the state of Texas and the #17 company to work for in the US is pretty cool. Please pray for the weeks ahead with all of my training and that everything I say, speak, and do will be for Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I love getting to come home and spend my nights with Megan, it truly is the best thing in the world.

Okay so a little bit about USAA. They have their own Post Office, a lot of great places to eat, 3 StarBucks, a Relaxation Room, and a Energize room, Vendors all over the place, and of course awesome people that work there. More to come in the weeks ahead. Be sure to look back for more post.

An unexpected morning funny

To know why this is so rare, you have to know the background so let me start by explaining it.

Ever since I got married I have had the craziest sleeping schedule, it is gone from where I would finally fall asleep at 5am and wake up at 4pm to where I would fall asleep around 1am and wake up at 11am (the normal before I got married was 1am-8/9am) My dear husband, Joshua until this week has had crazy work hours some days he works 1pm-11pm (this does not include him having a 42 mile drive, one way, which with traffic took between 45min-1hr), or 5am-3pm, or 3pm-11pm, or 11am-7pm...and I know I am forgetting other odd times he would start. For those of you who aren't aware where my husband worked before FT was at Chick-Fil-A as an Asst.GM. Now he is in training as a "Loan specialist" at USAA. So now he wakes up around 6am, leaves around 6:45 and with the horrid traffic at that time get there usually early, sometimes right on time. Meanwhile since this is a new schedule my sleeping hours are still way off, I mean this week one night I finally got to sleep by 4am and woke up around 3pm, another night 2am and up by 2pm...so anyway last night I was working on some online stuff that had to wait for Josh to get home, I was finished by 11pm (I started later than I meant to around 9:30pm, so that was my own fault) or so I thought I had made a stupid error in saving the file I was working on so that I had to start (from scratch) at 11pm, and Josh (lucky guy) was heading off to bed. So I thought "ugh, I am feeling so icky and I need to get this done and I really don't want to do it tomorrow." So I pushed through and finished by 12:30am, I wasn't feeling tired but felt so icky because of my allergies that all I felt like doing was going to bed so I wouldn't feel it. Thankfully, God was mercifully and I fell asleep fast. I woke up from thirst at 6am (really weird for me, I never normally wake up to do that, or use the restroom), only 15min till Josh's alarm goes off....so I wait for him to wake up, so he can get ready, etc. So here I am actually GETTING UP with my husband, so I can start my day with him and have my morning coffee (very important of course). When we finish having our coffee, I walk him outside to our car (can you see where this is going?...haha), wave goodbye as he drives off and I turn to go back inside the house and it's locked! Unknown to me, my sweet husband had gone on autopilot and locked the knob as he walked out before I did (he also didn't realise I was going to follow him out) and I have just shut the door to keep the doggies in. Anyway, I am standing there looking really odd in my bathrobe and pj's, no cell phone or keys, in a neighborhood where I don't know anyone very well. First I tried the front windows, taking off the screens and hoping on the off chance I had failed to lock them (we had been keeping them open during the day in the recent weeks to let the cool air in, but now it is getting too hot), haha I was too efficient for that, they were locked. My next option was to go to the backyard, well our wooden gate door REFUSED to budge for me. Now here is a funny picture, a young woman in a ratty looking green bathrobe, stepping on the trashcan (the tall newish kind that are what like 50gal?) to climb over the fence. (I really hope nobody caught me doing this or they have gotten a really good laugh this morning on my expense, heehee) You know what is even funnier? Having to go through the dog door to even get in my own house! (Thank you Father we didn't have that locked still from the night!)

So that was my morning laugh, I hope I never repeat! My hands are still burning from the top of the fence, haha. :D

Hope you all have a blessed rest of the day!
